Frequently Asked Questions

Take Care of You provides care and support to families as they transition from pregnancy through post delivery.

While you take care of baby, let us Take Care of You!

What services do you offer?
We offer birthing and postpartum classes and 6-weeks postpartum telehealth support.

What is postpartum?
It is considered the 4th trimester of labor where mom's body, hormones, uterus, and circulatory system, begin to return to a new normal state post delivery. This period last from 6 to 8 weeks after delivery.

What is postpartum care?
Managing the mother's physical, mental and emotional changes after birth. Supporting the new family as they develop a new normal with the addition to the family unit.

Why is postpartum care important?
Once discharged from the hospital the new family is on their own to discover and adjust to a new family dynamic. This time can be challenging as mom is changing physically and mentally, the demands of motherhood can become overwhelming for mom and partner, and life pre-delivery has continued while the new family is fighting to catch up. There may also be post delivery complications for mom and baby that need to be addressed prior to the 6-week check-up. Postpartum care provides a support person to address these concerns and guide the family through this final stage of pregnancy.

How are services provided?
In-home and Virtual care visits are available.

This is not my first pregnancy, should I take birthing classes?
Yes, whether it's your first or fifth baby you should always refresh your memory on the journey ahead. There is always something that you can learn.

Why do I need postpartum support?
After you deliver your baby, your body goes through a rebirth transformation which is where complications arise. Our telehealth postpartum service allows a medical professional to help you navigate the fourth trimester safely and with confidence.

When can I register for services?

The sooner the better. Planning in advance for postpartum care is a great way to assure you receive a healthy pregnancy experience and are prepared for life after delivery.

I just found out I'm pregnant, what should I do?
Congratulations! You should begin to research Maternal health providers, OBGYNs or Midwives, the hospitals they are affiliated with, and schedule your appointment around 8 weeks for your first antenatal appointment.

How are services covered?

Currently only accepting private pay.

What should I do if I loose my mucus plug?
There is nothing you need to do. This is just your body preparing for delivery. This does not mean you will go into labor. You do not need to go to the hospital, however you will want to let your doctor know at your next visit.

How do I know if my water broke?
If you believe your water has broken change your clothes put on a pad and walk around for 30 mins. If you soak through your pad it is likely your water is broken. Call your maternal care provider and head to the hospital.

How do I know if I am in true labor?
If your contracts get closer together and become more intense, you may be in labor. If you are contracting every 5 mins for at least an hour and your contraction is lasting more than 1 min call your provider.

Can I travel when I am pregnant?
Check with your maternal health provider and the mode of transportation to research their rules and regulations. Acquire a letter from your provider for clearance.

What should I do if I'm traveling long distance?
Stay hydrated, wear compression stockings, and stand up and stretch every hour.

What medications can I take when I am pregnant?
You always want to check with your health care provider as each person is different.

When should I go to the hospital?
If you are contracting every 5-10 mins an hour with contractions lasting 1 min or more, you are spotting or bleeding, your water has broken, you have decreased fetal movement (less than 10 movements in 1 hour),  headache that won't go away with rest, hydration or medication, inability to keep food or fluids down, or something just does not feel right for you.

What can I do about pelvic pressure?
You should wear a belly band to support your growing belly and back while you are active during the day. Rest as often as you can and stretch daily.

If I cant attend a class will I receive a refund?
